Lyrics for SUFFER AND SWALLOW by Alice Glass:

Verse 1
I'll cut your tongue out of your mouth
And wear your fingers
Everyone said I won't
Everyone, everyone

Verse 2
I'll use your teeth for my crown
But I don't need it (need it)
Feel your face when it rips
I've seen it, I've seen it

Chorus
Suffer and swallow
(Suffer and swallow)
You know there's no tomorrow
(You know there's no tomorrow)
I did this for you
Suffer and swallow
(Suffer and swallow)
I know what you are
I know what you are

Verse 3
Keep you awake 'til the kill
You’re never (coming back)
Feel your soul going limp
Every second, every second of it

Verse 4
Not with a scream or a sigh
Cut slits above your eyes
Make yourself so weak
Too bad that you can't spеak

Bridge
I'm concentrating
Just get down on your knees
I want to take my time to break you down
I feel like breathing
I feel like breathing fumes
You want to take my time
Is there any other way?
I know what you are

Chorus
Suffer and swallow
(Suffer and swallow)
You know there is no tomorrow
(You know there is no tomorrow)
I did this for you
Suffer and swallow
(Suffer and swallow)
I know what you are
I know what you are
I know what you are
I know what you are
I know what you are
You know there's no tomorrow
I know what you are
I know what you are
You know there's no tomorrow
I know what you are
I know what you are
I know what you are
I know what you are

Song Facts

The instrumental of the demo version was used in the 2019 Europe Tour teaser. It is assumed that the song was supposed to be released in 2019 (hence the merch line containing segments from the lyrics of the song), but the release was pushed back for unknown reasons. She played the full song for the first time during her Halloween DJ set at HEAV3N in 2020.

In 2021, she teased the music video on her social media accounts 4 days prior to it’s release. She posted the Spotify pre-save link on the same day, revealing that the original song title, D3VL’S SL33P, was changed.

The music video was directed by her long-time collaborator and friend Lucas David.
